Dear Tamika,

Thank you for your post. You stated, “A social worker can avoid communication barriers by being upfront about the meeting's expectations and their role in the helping process when meeting with a client,” This is twofold too as some clients will have expectations that the social worker will and can make everything magically better according to our textbook. I was once a client who thought this very thing and when I found out otherwise, I was kind of disappointed but have come to appreciate the social workers role. Any thoughts? Mahalo.
