Intensive English Comp I (110)

Goals:

To structure an essay as a report on a specific topic. The student will integrate multiple sources, and ideally multiple forms of sources in order to provide an in-depth expository essay on their chosen subject. This is the final formal paper for this course and should therefore be a showcase for the student’s abilities with MLA quoting and researching and also exhibit an appropriate tone and style.

Instructions:

· Choose a subject that interests you and write an in-depth report on the subject.

· Read my notes on reports to learn about how reports function

Pieces of Assignment:

Topic selection - Due 11/20

List of sources: Works Cited - Due 11/27

Final Essay - Due 12/6

Guidelines:

· Adhere to MLA formatting and documentation guidelines and include a works cited page

· Include at least 3 outside sources

· Minimum of two direct quotes

· Be 1000 words minimum in length

· Use a mixture of summary, paraphrase and direct quote

· Minimal grammar errors

· Avoid casual language, don't address the audience, don't use the word "I" anywhere in this essay

· Make sure your writing is a mixture, of opinion, critical thought, and support from outside sources.

· Refer to all the sources that will be posted in weeks 12, 13, and 14 to complete this assignment
