Job descriptions are crucial for recruiting and talent management. As an HR personnel worker,

you need to be familiar with current trends and technologies used for employee selection. For

this assignment, you will research and craft a job description for an industry and position of

your choice. You will also create a table and analyze five different internet job boards.

Prior to beginning work on this assignment,

• Research current job postings to see how job descriptions are written and formatted.

• Identify five different internet job boards.

• Review Chapters 8 and 9 of the textbook.

Scenario: You are a recruiter for an organization that is planning on expanding one of its departments. You are tasked with finding a highly-skilled, knowledgeable worker. The type of industry and the position are your choice.

In your paper,

• Create a job description for the position detailing the tasks, tools, technology,

knowledge, skills, abilities, and education requirements for the position.

• Create a competitive analysis table that analyzes five different internet job boards.

o Identify the different services and career focuses they each have within the

table.

▪ Do they target executives, general laborers, IT, HR, education, state

owned, or something different?

▪ If you need help formatting your table, review the Tables, Images, &

• Explain which job board fits the best to advertise the position.

• Provide an explanation why you chose that job board and the benefits it offers over the

others.

The Job Descriptions assignment

• Must be two to four double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references

pages) and formatted according to APA Style (Links to an external site.) as outlined in

the Writing Center’s APA Formatting for Microsoft Word (Links to an external site.)

• Must include a separate title page with the following:

o Title of paper in bold font

▪ Space should appear between the title and the rest of the information on

the title page.

o Student’s name

o Name of institution (The University of Arizona Global Campus)

o Course name and number

o Instructor’s name

o Due date

for additional guidance.

• Must include an introduction and conclusion paragraph. Your introduction paragraph

needs to end with a clear thesis statement that indicates the purpose of your paper.

• Must use at least one scholarly, peer-reviewed, or credible source in addition to the

course text.
