· 1. For a sample of 15 rural counties in one state, a researcher has collected information about the rate of deaths due to traffic accidents per 1,000,000 population and the percentage of the population, which consists of males age 16 to 25. First, find the least squares regression line for these variables and compute r and r2. Then, write a sentence or two summarizing and explaining your results. Make sure to show all of your work.

· 2. SPSS For the SPSS part of this assignment: 2. A Using the data from Assignment 1, analyze the relationship between race and how people feel about legalizing marijuana; look at Chi-square, Phi and Cremer’s V, and Lambda. Also, look at the column percentages. Finally, write a few sentences discussing your results. (Please remember that you may need to recode variables to meet assumptions.)

· 2. B Choose one more set of variables from the Assignment 1 data set to measure association and columns & row percentages. (Remember that you will probably need to recode one or both variables to meet assumptions.) Finally, write a few sentences discussing your results.

· (I did not require this in the last assignment, but for this assignment, make sure to put your dependent variable in the rows and your independent variable in the columns. This is just the conventional way of doing it. However, it is essential in statistics to stick with traditional ways of doing things to show you know what you are doing. )
