Course Overview
As your study of this course content draws to a close, it is important to step back and reflect on new levels of understanding, skills, and knowledge that you developed as a result of your efforts throughout this course. It is particularly important to reflect on the course outcomes (what you were intended to learn in this course).
Course Outcomes
- Be able to assess, compare and interpret the purpose of an organization according to Merton, Alter and other researchers. (Module 1)
- Explain why organizations have structure and assess or recommend options for organizational structure. (Module 1)
- Explain what a business process is to include comparing and contrasting the definitions for business processes used by scholars. (Module 1)
- Be able to explain, assess, or critique the role of a process in an organization. (Module 1)
- Be able to explain, asses, or critique the role of information technology in an organization. (Module 1)
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze or evaluate differences between at least 3 levels of an organization regardless of structure. (Module 2)
- Critique, assess, or make recommendations to processes operating at 3 levels of an organization. (Module 2)
- Distinguish the differences between the types of information technology systems operating at the 3 levels of an organization. (Module 2)
- Distinguish and contract differences between at least 2 components for process complexity. (Module 2)
- Be able to analyze and apply the 5 basic components of a business process according to business process engineers. (Module 2)
- Comprehend and defend the difference between professional development activities and organizational development activities. (Module 3)
- Identify learning gaps and develop solutions using several types of organizational learning mechanisms. (Module 3)

Module 6 Assignment
This course covered theoretical concepts and practical examples related to business processes. Please write a 2-page paper that describes your understanding of:
- The close relationship between organizational structure and business processes.
- Generic types of business processes operating at different levels of any organization.
- Ways that individuals learn to accomplish business processes within organizations; mechanisms that hamper learning of business processes.
- Specific business processes to accomplish the delivery of goods and services within many large corporations.
- Information Technology solutions that enable business processes (i.e., discuss the use of IT systems to support business process and whether they enable them or not).

Your Module 6 Task
Prepare a Reflective Essay in which you address each of the following items:
- Describe how you improved your knowledge, skills, abilities, and yourself in this session through this course.
- Evaluate the work you did during the session for the class and explain ways you could have performed better.
- Identify topics you did not understand or successfully implement and suggest how to improve the course material on those topics.
- Identify ways to measure the future effects of what you have learned in this course or your future progress/improvement.
- State whether you achieved the course outcomes (listed on the Module 6 Home page and course Syllabus page).
This Reflective Essay is a required course component (but not part of your final grade).
