Summary

The Gay ‘Conversion Therapy’ faces a test in courts is an article published to point out the experience of gay conversion therapy in the courtroom. It is claimed to assist men in dealing with unwanted sexual attraction to same sex. The therapy has been criticized and attacked in various forms. For example, four gay men who gave the therapy a try filed a civil suit charging with deceptive practices. The clients claimed to have been scared emotionally through the false promises of change internally as well as other techniques used that was humiliating. For example, the clients were made to strip naked and beating images of their mothers. The clients were made to pay large amounts of fees and later were told that it was their own fault for lack of change on how they felt.

Major scientific and medical groups claim that there is lack of proof to support the idea of sexual urges being changed. Additionally, the groups warned that the so-called therapies can result in depression, self-destructive behavior, and anxiety. Based on the study performed it was discovered that socially rejected LGBTQ youth have eight times possibilities of committing suicide, six times to experience depression and three times to engage in substance abuse as well as test HIV positive. Gay men and women have been subjected to terrible abuses in the name of conversion therapies. The lawmakers are in the process of evaluating a secular bill which if passed will permit the attorney general of the state to bring consumer fraud cases against therapies who are found participating in the practice.
