In the article I read, there was a study performed to analyze trust among employees of those who have adapted to change in their working hours and how it has/ have not affected their outside lives.
The type of reasoning I recognized in my research in the article was adductive reasoning. Live Science states“Abductive reasoning is based on making and even testing the hypotheses using your best information available.” (Live Science, 2012). In the article I read Flexible working conditions and decreasing levels of trust a survey was given to non-standard employees ( short-term employees, or temporary agency employees) to show how a temporary employee adapts to work of a regular (standard) to see if they can handle it, does it make them different socially.
The way adductive reasoning relates to the problem solving process was it allowed them to see how temporary/ non-standard employees are different socially than standard, it came to mind when the survey was given to the non-standards to get their feedback on the work, life as if they were regular employees. In my opinion I really don’t think the survey served its purpose. I have had my time as a temporary employee and to my remembrance I loved it, the work and couldn’t wait to land a permanent position. I can’t imagine me being a temporary employee and it affects my life socially. I was happy that I was surviving on a paycheck weekly. Then again this was not my survey this was another’s. However, if I were in a Human Resource position then I would apply the method differently. I don’t think it fair to say temps are not able to handle to stress of a real employee or that if affects them socially.
The way I’d take ago at a possible solution to the problem addressed in my article using adductive reasoning, which I of course learned in based on cause and effect. They felt that non-standard can’t handle the work of regular ones. Instead of a survey which I felt took a lot of time, I would have gathered a certain amount of standard and non-standard employees assuring an equal

amount and offer a brown bag luncheon where then I’d gather enough plausible information on why/why not this can make one non-social able. Of course all my information and my hypotheses would be from an open forum where I would gather all information on every party’s feelings. Switching the roles more or less to allow each to see what its like and then perhaps work on a way to by pass any ill will , distrust they may have not only in the company but in their outside lives as well. The result of this did prove that when short-term employment or threat of being fired is involved an employee tends to lose faith and trust in their employer, lower level employers were shown to have a very low trust level. “The result reveals that people in non-standard positions display significantly lower levels of generalized trust compared to standard employers.” (Svensson, 2012).Yes I believe adductive reasoning would be useful in my field of interest, Business Management. I actually will be handling my daughters marketing, and management for her personal business, Makeup artistry. If I did more research I may be able to find reasons/ ways it would be useful, however there would be no overhead to handle so no other employees. Once that pick up then perhaps it would be used.
In conclusion for that part of the country where this survey was given maybe there are different standards that workers rely on. I can say for certain if this is a typoe of test/survey used to say that one isn’t able to cope socially it’s wrong. I actually don’t agree with the way the information gathered/conducted.
