Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to prepare the DNP student to determine how the scientific underpinnings of nursing supports evidence based practice (EBP). The student will consider how to engage in advancing nursing practice and provide leadership for evidence-based practice, lead changes that promote the translation of research into practice and guide improvements in practice and outcomes of care.
Course Outcomes
In completing this assignment, the student will:
CO1: Evaluate evidence based approaches to delivery of leadership services in nursing in applicable practice settings. (PO 1, 2)
CO3: Explore methodologies to improve student and/or patient outcomes through dissemination of evidence based practice. (PO 3, 4)
CO5: Appraise evidence and apply it to policy development in the nursing leadership arena. (PO 3)
CO6: Employ communication skills and the spirit of inquiry, nursing judgment, professional identity, and collaborative skills in the development of practice models. (PO 7)

REQUIREMENTS:
1. To complete this assignment, you will need to access to the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and other resources in the Jay Sexter Library. 2. The DNP Roles and Responsibilities Paper is worth 200 points and will be graded using the designated rubric. Grading criteria include quality of content, appropriate citations, use of Standard English grammar, and overall organization and readability.
3. Create your assignment using a Microsoft Word. The document should be saved in a .doc or .docx format.
4. The paper should be 3 to 6 pages in length excluding title page and reference pages.
5. APA format is required.
6. The following sections should be included and denoted through APA section headings in the paper:

PREPARING THE PAPER:
1. Review Hall, H. R. & Roussell, L. A. Chapter 8, 9, 12
2. As you work on your paper, consider how you can engage yourself in advanced nursing practice and provide leadership for evidence-based practice. How will you lead changes that promote the translation of research into practice? How will you guide improvements in practice and outcomes of care?
3. This assignment will be accomplished within the framework for systems change. Three topic areas are provided for your consideration as you research and write this paper. You only need to choose and focus on one topic and can be macro or micro focused related to an organization. Please refer to the grading rubric for additional details.
4. Discuss the following: How will you lead changes that promote the translation of research into practice? How will you guide improvements in practice and outcomes of care? Provide information about the role of a DNP prepared nurse as it applies to evaluation of EBP in an organizational setting (integrate Essential III and collaboration as they apply).
5. Put into practice: Choose one topic below to answer. Can be macro or micro focused related to an organization.
Option 1) Evaluate an intervention noted within the organizational setting and compare against the national benchmark. Is this intervention system wide? Is it based on sound evidence based practice? How is the outcome assessed, and how does the outcome achieved meet with the overall outcome desired?
Option 2) Establish a plan to assist bedside nurses to incorporate evidence- based practice into their daily care routines. How may the organizational culture and context in which the process takes place have an impact? How can you, as a leader, play an intrinsic role in the process of EBP implementation in practice?
