Project Status Report

Please complete the timeline below by the assigned due date. The purpose of this assignment is to determine a timeline of activities necessary to perform during the implementation phase. This schedule will keep both you and your project team on track and will assist in weekly communication. Please copy and paste some of the introductory the information from your project proposal for consistency. You will utilize this timeline during the implementation of your project in DNP Project III. You may also utilize this form for providing updates during DNP Project III.

Project Purpose

To develop a cultural competence training program aimed at enabling the health care providers to gain the knowledge and techniques they can employ to provide quality health care services to African immigrants.

Project Question

In healthcare workers caring for African Immigrant groups (P), how can an effective cultural competence training program (I) compared to no training program (C) be developed to improve the resource allocation and referrals for African Immigrants (O) in less than 4 weeks (T).

Project Timeline

The purpose of this timeline is to keep you and the project team on track during the implementation phase which will occur in DNP Project III. Intervention or project timeline should be clearly described. Time to carry out implementation, collect data, and evaluate the project should be clearly delineated. Please plan out the activities you will be performing each week during the implementation phase. Please set actual concrete dates for any training, interventions, data collection, and/or data analysis.

Week 1

10th- Administering Pretest Survey Questionnaire 11th – Educational Training Training on the purpose and the elements of the project Training the participants on how to use the African Immigrant Cultural Competence Toolkit Training participants on how to use the African Immigrant Resources Toolkit Training participants on how to use the Patient Data Collection Form and the Provider Data Collection Form 12th – Administering the Posttest Survey Questionnaire 15th - Extracting and analyzing data from the questionnaires. 16th- Conducting a remediation session for participants with a grade less than 80 on the posttest.

Week 1

Week 1: Nov 10th- The project lead administered the Pretest Survey questionnaire. Project lead conducted training on how to use the provider data and patient data forms Nov 11th- Also conducted training on how to use of Cultural competence toolkit and resource toolkit. Nov 13th- The Posttest survey questionnaire was administered to participants Project lead graded the pretest and posttest questionnaires, all the participants scored 80 and above. No remediation session needed The participants were given the resources toolkits- the ones to they will be handed to patients and the cultural competence toolkit that will act as a guideline as they attend to the patients

Week 2

Week 2: Training was successful and implementation of the project commenced. Nov 17th- 2pm-3pm First day of the project implementation. Project lead was present at the clinical site to support the participants and answer any questions they had. One of questions the participants had was regarding the resource toolkit. She wanted to find out if it was okay to hand out more than one resource toolkit to a patient who requested two copies. Project lead instructed participant to only give out one resource toolkit per patient because it is all accounted for. There’s a weekly count of the resource toolkit given to each participant; this helps the project lead calculate the number of African immigrant patients the participants attended to that week. Nov 18th 12:20 – 1:30 pm Project lead was present at the clinical site, started a retrospective audit of patients’ charts to make sure the participants are compliant with resources toolkits. Nov 19th 2:30-3:30pm Project lead met briefly with the site administrator to find out how things were going and to validate the participants’ utilization of the toolkit. Project lead received positive feedback from both the site administrator and one of the participants. Observed the participants attend to some of their patients.

Week 3

Week 3: Nov 22nd 2:30-3:30 pm- Project lead was at the clinical site to continue project implementation and to provide support to participants. Implementation is progressing smoothly, no barriers identified. One of the participants expressed how grateful some of the patients were, receiving the African Immigrant resource toolkit. Nov 23rd 12:30- 2:30 pm- Project lead was present at the clinical site for the first data collection and patients’ charts were audited for compliance. Project lead collected the Provider data collection forms- calculated the number of African immigrant patients each participant attended to last week, and number of toolkits the participant had at the beginning and end of the week. Based on the Provider data collection forms, 42 patients were seen in the clinic and 42 African Immigrant resource toolkits handed out.

Week 4

Nov 26th 12:30- 2:30 pm- Project lead was at the clinical site to continue implementation of project. Monitored the activities, interactions between the participants and some patients.

Nov 29th -12:30- 2:30 pm- Project lead arrived the clinical site, had a brief meeting with the participants, discussed the progress of the project implementation, no barriers identified. Project lead encouraged participants and site administrator to reach out with any questions or issues.

Nov 30th- 3:00- 5:30 pm- Project lead was at the clinical site for the second data collection, charts audit completed for compliance. Project lead collected the Provider data collection forms- calculated the number of African immigrant patients each participant attended to last week, and number of toolkits the participant had at the beginning and end of the week. Based on the Provider data collection forms, 33 African immigrant patients were seen in the clinic and 33 resource toolkits handed out.

Week 5

Nov 1st 12:00- 2:00 pm- Project lead was present at the clinical site to provide support to participants. Encouraged the participants to reach out if they had any questions or concerns.

Nov 3rd 12:30- 2:30 pm- Project lead had a brief meeting with the stakeholder- the owner of the practice and the site administrator, received positive feedback from them. They believe that the project has improved the cultural competence skills of the healthcare professionals, it has helped them incorporate ideas and strategies when dealing with African immigrant patients. They also acknowledged that the project has helped the patients’ healthcare experience. The stakeholder expressed appreciation and would like to continue using the resources for their African immigrant patients because of the impact it has made in the past 4 weeks.

Nov 6th – 3:00- 5:00 pm- Project lead was the clinical site for the final data collection, chart audit was done for compliance. Based on the Provider data collection forms, 58 African immigrant patients were seen in the clinic and a total number of 58 resource toolkits handed out.
