The course emphasizes the value of various theoretical frameworks for decision-making in complex healthcare settings. Students will examine decision-making models and processes. Ethical and leadership contexts and explore the impact these models have on healthcare outcomes. Students will also demonstrate skills in care coordination, innovative thinking, delegation, and initiating conflict resolution strategies.
After completing this course, the student should be able to: · Describe various theoretical frameworks for decision-making in clinical, ethical and leadership contexts. · Determine how systems thinking facilitate decision-making in complex healthcare settings. · Examine decision making considerations in various clinical settings. · Evaluate the influence of decision-making processes in improving healthcare outcomes. · Promote a professional environment that includes accountability and high-level communication skills when involved in peer review, advocacy for patients and families.
