As you know, the statistics presented to us in mainstream media are often misleading, incomplete, or used incorrectly. Find a current event or news article where you believe statistics were used improperly.

 

DISCUSSION INSTRUCTIONS

Briefly describe the type of data which were used in the article and what they were trying to convey.

Why do you believe they were used incorrectly?

Provide a way in which the data could have been used in a proper fashion and explain why.

In your responses to peers, suggest additional ways in which the data could have been used or displayed differently, or additional data could have been included to support the point the author was trying to make.
