Activity 3 - CLO 3, CLO 4, CLO 10

Complete the following sections of your Potential Prospectus:

1. Problem Statement (unresolved problems of theoretical and/or practical significance in the domain covered in the background of the study section).

· State the general problem you identified through reading the literature.

· Based on some of the literature reviewed for the background of the study, and given what other researchers are exploring, what meaningful gap have you identified that your study will address.

· State the specific problem you are going to study for addressing the identified gap.

1. Purpose of the Study (declaration of the intent of the study, which should be aligned with the problem statement).

· Develop the purpose of your proposed study and start by using terms such as “The purpose of this”:

· Qualitative study is to explore, understand, describe,…….

· Quantitative study is to examine, analyze, predict,……

· For mixed methods studies, both terminologies are used

Activity 4 - CLO 5, CLO 6, CLO 10

Complete the Following Sections of your Potential Prospectus:

Theoretical or Conceptual Framework:

· Discuss the theories or concepts that support your study; and justify the relevance to your research problem, purpose, and the nature of your study.

Research Questions:

· After reviewing Chapter 7 of the Creswell textbook, create at least three (3) research questions, precise and aligned with the purpose of the study, that will be the guide to what needs to be done to conduct the research.

· State the research questions (and the hypotheses for quantitative studies) in the manner that implicitly identifies the underlying applicable methodology.

Activity 5 - CLO 7, CLO 10

Complete the following Section of your Potential Prospectus.

Develop the Nature of your Study:

The nature of the study should include the following:

· Research method: quantitative, qualitative, or the mixed methods

· Research design in alignment with your research method

· Data needed, how you will access the data, and provide indications that the needed data can be accessed.

· Description of data collection method: direct observation, interviews, survey instrument, experimental design, archival, proprietary information, publicly available data, etc.

· Description of any data collection instrument(s) that is planned to be used and any pilot study needed (e.g., if you design your own survey).

· Description of planned data analysis, including statistical tests

Remember, the prospectus and proposal will be written in the future tense.

Activity 6 - CLO 8, CLO 9, CLO 10

Complete the following section of your prospectus:

Significance of the study:

· Justify the expected significance of the proposed study by delineating its potential contribution to the field relevant to your research, professional practice, and the social impact of your research.

Note: you should use non-confirmatory language, such as:

“The potential findings of my study might lead to a better understanding of outsourcing.”

“The evaluation of employee attitudes could help improve company production.”

Draft of the Prospectus 7:

Complete the Draft of the Prospectus - CLO1, CLO 2, CLO 3, CLO 4, CLO 5, CLO 6, CLO 7, CLO 8, CLO 9, CLO 10

· Revise all sections of the prospectus that you developed during previous weeks and submit the entire draft, using the prospectus template, including appendices (if relevant).

· Include the title page and a complete and properly formatted reference list for all in-text citations.

· The draft of the prospectus should include at least 15 pages, excluding title page, table of contents, references, and appendices.

Please note the draft of your prospectus will be distributed to SMEs, methodologists, and chairs for their indication of interest to serve in your potential future dissertation committee.

Please note, in addition to your textbook, your prospectus should contain at least ten scholarly references in a cumulative list that incorporates all sources cited during the past weeks of the class. All references should be cited within the prospectus text.
