Discussion N
In the information technology field, one of the most important functions of a system is the ability to recover from an incident. This could be a simple file deletion or something as big as a server crash with the company’s main database. Discuss the incident management process and how it pertains to disaster recovery and business continuity.
Background
Once an incident is identified there are many paths to be chosen for the solution. This could be an accident, or intentional and when the determination is this was an attack you may take a different approach to recovery than if this was an accident. Ultimately your job will be to get the system back online and performing the critical business process that is needed and that IT supports. Without the business there is no IT.
Subsection 1
Planning, workflows and processes are important business functions, so while we all want to dive right in and start putting together hardware and software for backup and recovery, we need to examine business critical processes, applications and files. We do this so we can tailor our solution to best fit the business needs of our organization and its stakeholders. As IT professionals we are there to ensure the business succeeds. There will always be constraints of budget, time and competing initiatives, but we can plan for a competent recovery process with some planning.

Your initial and reply posts should work to develop a group understanding of this topic. Challenge each other. Build on each other. Always be respectful but discuss this and figure it out together.
