Strengths Ability to provide a boutique hotel guest experience centered on guest satisfaction. Due to hotel size, location access can be easier to obtain. |
Weaknesses Finding the dedicated staff to carry out the level of guest service needed to provide excellent guest service. |
|
Opportunity Most boutique hotels are located in either a city destination or resort destinations. This means that the opportunity for full occupancy is great. |
Threats Funding for new construction in the US and abroad. As times change, companies such as AirBnB emerge and definitely create competition for hotels. |
The lodging industry, although continuously growing and promising, is a difficult industry to survive in. A boutique hotel owner, specifically, has the ability to provide a hotel environment unique to a standard hotel franchise chain. Although being able to hire the appropriate staff might be a challenge, once acquired, the boutique hotel will be a success. There’s a great variety in being able to decide the location of the boutique hotel due to the many cities and resort destinations in the US and worldwide. Funding has to be the biggest hurdle when planning to open and operate a hotel. Deciding between taking over a pre-existing building or a new construction can be a tough choice. A current trend amongst people right now is AirBnB lodging. Becoming definitely more accessible, these properties have become competitors of hotel facilities.

Nadine,
Thank you for your post. After reading it, I am curious if you think that a telecommunications business in another country would be viewed as many other telecommunication systems? For example, there are many people that complain about the fact that when they receive a phone call or need to call customer service, that they are unable to understand the person that they are speaking to. Do you think that this would be a problem?
