Zantop Murders

One of the more gripping juveniile crimes was a brutal homicide known as the Zantop Murders.  While you can research this case on your own, a concise summary of the facts is located here:

Link: Zantop Murders

This story captivated the nation, as much for it's randomness, it's brutality, and the young age of the offenders.  For our first disucssion board, I want you to begin to ask "why" these young men commited such an atrocious act.  Juvenile justice seeks to ask what should be done with these offenders.  For this assignment, I want you to suggest what the appropriate disposition of these boys should be, in light of the principles of juvenile law.  Should they be treated as adults?  Incarcerated for life?  Put to death?  Can they be rehabilitated?  Should an example be sent for other youthful offenders?  What about retribution for the families of the victims?
