The videos about themes and transitions were very informative for me this week. I have done a few presentations with PowerPoint for other classes before but I made them very basic. I have used themes and slide transitions, but I try to not over-do it so it doesn't muddy up the presentation. Some of the benefits of using themes and transitions is to add some color and life to your presentation. Some of the transition effects can enhance your presentation by bringing more attention to a certain part of your slide that you want to be more visible. You don't want to over use the transitions for every slide or you could lose the attention of your audience.
I didn't really find anything difficult this week, but there was a lot of new things that I learned. I knew you could do the transitions for the slides, but I had no idea you could change the timing speed of the transition. Another thing I learned was how to transition the text within the slide. I have never used that feature before, but that is one feature that I would like to showcase more of. I think it would add a nice affect to some of the information given on each slide because I could give the more important information as transition that will make it pop to the audience. Also being able to change the way the font looks, like the border and shading can help add some spice to your presentation so it isn't too plain. I also liked the feature in the themes that would let me look at different ways PowerPoint could make each slide look, so every slide doesn't look the same.
Themes are the best way to address showing data in a concise manner. In PowerPoint themes, the text block and image placers are placed with a view to optimize space usage. While making a presentation, you must keep the presentation short and concise to make the presentation intriguing for your audiences. The data included in the presentation should be concise and precise but informative. According to the studies, you can hold someone attention without lapse for maximum time of 15–20 minutes. So you should make small but effective presentation to grab the attention of people.
You can enhance your presentation look and make it more engaging for audiences by using PowerPoint themes. These themes come with preconfigured slides for display, charts and diagrams to display data and information in an effective manner. Plain text usually doesn’t look more appealing for audiences so by adding animation and graphics, you can make the content more interesting. You can also use Creative PowerPoint themes to get out of box design to enhance the look of template. Visual and animated presentation gives more clarity to your PowerPoint presentation.
I didn't struggle with anything this week, as I would like to say that I am pretty average at PowerPoint. I actually just finished a class in which I had to conduct a research project and use PowerPoint. What I did learn though, was being able to use the animations and putting a timer on there. That was pretty neat and something I could see myself using a lot more in the future. I also plan on trying out the different animations on future PowerPoints instead of always using the same animation such as Fly In.
