Modes of operation of WLAN:

Infrastructure mode: Most wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) networks use this mode of operation because they are a more permanent network. In this mode of operation, devices communicate through a single AP, such as a router. The infrastructure mode will usually have higher power radio or antennas, allowing connectivity for a larger area.

Ad-hoc mode: This operation is known as a peer-to-peer mode. It is easy to set-up and does not require a centralized AP (Sun and Yu, 2013). Two devices on the same wireless network can directly connect. However, interference can occur if there are several devices connected. The operation requires more system resources and network layout changes as the device location changes.

Power management features of IEEE 802.11 networks:

Portable devices are powered by batteries and finding solutions to improve power saving is a constant challenge. The power management system of the IEEE 802.11 network allows stations (STA's) to operate with minimal power consumption while in doze mode (Jiang, Hsu, & Ten-Hwang, 2005). By implementing an efficient algorithm to manage and probability method to predict the active, idle, and dozing time of the stations, optimized power consumption methods can be achieved, which is crucial for battery operated STA's.

My direct supervisor is accounting manager who is a CPA. She also has a MBA degree. Her role as a manager is more toward to management instead of IT. As a manager, she knows well about all the operation throughout every department of the company in order to perform her duties as accounting manager. I think she is very qualified to her position and I feel lucky to be in her team. Her leadership style is transformational leadership. According to the transformational leadership theory, transformational leaders are those who seek to change existing thoughts, techniques and goals for better results and the greater good. For example, I once saw a manager who just let the team take the blame instead of standing out to fight for the team. Everybody make mistakes and especially those people who just has their first job like me and I feel lucky that my manager discussed with me calmly to try to think of a solution when I first made a big critical mistake. I believe trust is the most essential element that bond a team. Without trust, employee is unwilling to put themselves out there and share their idea, thoughts , opinion which many researches have showed that lack of trust in workplace can decrease productivity, creativity. It's really hard to point out what my manager should improve. I think I would suggest she can improve her technique skill to learn more new things and knowledge in IT area.
