What technologies are of most interest to you to support the teaching and learning

strategies you prefer? How will you prepare yourself to use these technologies in your classroom?

REPLY TO MY CLASSMATE’S DISCUSSION TO THE ABOVE QUESTION AND

EXPLAIN WHY YOU AGREE.

The technologies that would most support the teaching and learning strategies are things like Flip Grid where students can be creative or games like Quizizz, Blooket, or Kahoot where I can assess what students know, but it appeals to their competitive side, and they have fun doing it. I typically always have a male dominated room and there is a lot of competitiveness in fifth grade boys. I am typically not a fan of the time limit on some games, I am more interested in whether a student knows the material, so Quizizz is one of my favorites because the time is suggestive, students can still answer after time has expired. I also really enjoy things like Penguin Hop and Saterra or Quizlet where students can quiz themselves. I have typically used the already prepared decks or games, but I have been making a few of my own for more specific content for my students.

Preparing myself to use new technologies has been something I have shied away from in the past, but now I look forward to trying new things with the kids. I am just honest with them in the beginning and tell them it is new to me, and we can work through it. If not, I get ahold of our amazing tech guy, and he teaches me how to use it more efficiently. I have come to the realization that I will never know as much as the kids, and they enjoy teaching me as well.
