1. The three images that I chose are from the Blind Melon video. The first image I chose is when the little girl is on stage performing and nobody claps at the end of the performance, but instead laugh at her. To me this says she is not afraid to be who she is, but she is also a lonely and sad person.

The second image is from when the little girl goes from one person to another in the streets and she dances for them, but they they just stare at her and look as if confused. It is as if she is trying to seek acceptance from others but people reject her.

The third image is when the little girl finds a group of people that are similar to her but if you listen to the song, this is around the part where the singer says that reading a book is a great escape. So it is not that she has actually found people who accept her but when she reads a book, her imagination takes her to places where she is accepted by others and feels like she belongs.

2. The one aspect I would change from a class curriculum that I have had in the past is timed exams. Having to take an exam is already stressful on the students and having a timed exam adds more pressure and stress to the students. There have been times when I ran out of time while taking an exam and knew the answers to the following questions but was unable to finish. The benefits of not having timed exams would be that the students are less likely to make errors because they do not have to rush. Another benefit would be that they can complete the whole exam at their own pace. Allowing the students to take their time during an exam would also be a better indicator of what they have actually learned.

1. I chose three images from the video Blind Melon. The first image if of the little girl wearing a yellow little dress with a small hat that kind of makes her look like a bee. She is doing a silly little dance by herself on the stage. She is very pleased with her performance and then she takes a bow, but the audience laughed at her. She seems to become scared and runs away from the audience. I suspect that the image is meant to show how the girl is being herself but isn’t accepted for what she is.

For the second image, the same girl is dancing in front of various strangers on the street. Her back is not very straight maybe she feels tired and has a lack of confidence. She is trying to talk and interact with people, but none of them understand her or really even seem to like her. I think these images are to give the viewer and idea that the girl is searching for people like herself, or at least those who can accept her for who she is.

The third image is where the girl walks into the gate with flowers on it. Suddenly, she sees something and she opens her mouth in surprise. She can’t wait to open the gate and run into the people who look exactly like her and who are also dancing around. They are very friendly and happy to have her. This image, to me, means that she has found acceptance from a group of people who are just like her.

2. I had a lot of classes that did not have a lot of online resources and I think I would like to change that. I think during the quarter, students can gain more knowledge from online resources when compared with only studying the text book. Additionally, there is a lot useful information online that can be related to what we are learning, but they are said in different ways, which can increase our interest and curiosity. Often times I find that I can read a book and not quite understand what is going on, but I only have that one reference to look at. I’ve also had classes where they give you general topics and lots of online resources that you can go look in to get a different perspective on the material so that if one doesn’t make sense, you just go read another interpretation. I think this kind of class organization is very important because people learn in many different ways and there is no one “right” way to describe a certain topic.
