The evolution of technology is evolving at a rapid pace as demonstrated by the growing power and efficiency of computers. Additionally, reliance on the internet has significantly increased and it is projected to further grow due to social media among other uses. The article to be reviewed is “Approaches to Text Simplification: Can Computer Technologies Outdo a Human Mind?” by Pervukhina et al. (2021). The purpose of the research was exploited to identify the level of expertise in text adaptation instigated by human and computers (Pervukhina et al., 2021).

Though the result demonstrated that human approach to linguistics is still superior, it presented the researchers with the ethical limitations of using computers to simplify specialized text. With the research demonstrating the potential of text simplification and text summarization programs, they present ethical issues when used to present false information (Pervukhina et al., 2021). The researchers stated that specialized text is not suitable for all audiences as it is designed for professional use as it employs complex jargons. Though the proposed programs can simplify the text, it creates the potential of altering the meaning of the text resulting in misinformation among other threats. The purpose of the programs is to understand; however, the current information environment is too volatile for its effective exploitation.

It is factual that the informational environment of today mandates caution by all internet users. The rise in demand and exploitation of the internet has resulted in numerous entities focused on monetary gain. The notion addresses the numerous hacking attempts ad successes that have been reported in the economic and social sectors. Understanding the threats presented by the internet is essential to make necessary mitigation strategies. Though information security can be assured through simple security measures, it is also essential for the users be considerate.

Technology has made numerous human activities more streamlined such as the mentioned use of software such as “Photoshop” to augment or alter images to meet personal needs. However, with the rise in false information, the software has been exploited to propagate the problem. With more bad actors increasing the number of false images denoted as true images, has resulted in speculation within society causing rift. It is vital for people to verify information before deeming it factual.
