Crime Definitions

In our lecture and your readings, there were many different ways of defining "crime", and we saw that "crime" isn't always as clear cut as we think it is. We might all agree that some behaviors/incidents are probably crimes, but we might have trouble saying whether other behaviors are  always crimes or not. 

Based on the material from lecture and reading, answer the following questions:

Discuss how the definitions of crime can change over time. Tell me, have all behaviors been labeled as "crimes" in the past? What are some reasons why crime definitions have changed? (Hint: consider how technology may change what we know of crime or how different states have different laws). You must use the readings and lecture notes to support your answer.

Then, provide one example (e.g., drunk driving) to illustrate this phenomenon. Thoroughly explain your example and how it connects back to the concept that crime definitions have changed over time.
