Discussion Forum 2: Review of macro-nutrients
Choose any of the websites for the topic of your choice. Ideally, there will be a variety of responses about all of the macro-nutrients. In addition to your initial in-depth topic, you are expected to reply to a minimum of 2 or more other student posts. Please understand, you will be expected to provide detail to both the initial and the follow up posts. When responding to other students, add to the discussion. No points will be given for comments such as "Good Job" or "That is interesting." You must add information to the subject matter that can be commented on and adds to the overall discussion. Important: Do NOT copy and paste. Use your own words to convey what you learned from the site you visited. Share the url with the class so they can review the information if they are interested.

Check out the site and be prepared to give two suggestions for improving your carbohydrates and list the benefits. You may also discuss simple sugars and guidelines for use.

Search for any of the following topics about fat in foods: "Trans Fat"; "Olestra"; "Saturated Fats"; "Unsaturated Fats"; "Low Density Lipoproteins or High Density Lipoproteins"; "Implication of fat in Cardiovascular Disease"
Protein choices: Visit one or more of the following websites:
1) Medline (https://medlineplus.gov/dietaryproteins.html) (Links to an external site.) 2) Harvard Medical School (www.health.harvard.edu (Links to an external site.) ) (Links to an external site.) 3) you can also do a search about the topic or protein, vegan diet, etc on any of the above websites noted for carbohydrates or fats.
Search for topics related to protein. Some suggestion may be: Vegan diet: Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian Diet: Pesco-Vegetarian Diet: Nutritional concerns related to protein requirements, vitamin and mineral status, fiber intake and calories: Vegetarian Children-Nutritional Concerns: Complimentary Protein Sources: Mad Cow Disease: Osteoporosis as it relates to Protein intake.
