Week 4, Discussion

Class, welcome to our week four discussions!  Please read the question carefully to answer all the components. Class this week you are looking at the details of one of the models presented in our reading or our lesson.  The organizational and behavioral models and theories were very popular and successful in healthcare for years. This week, we are taking a historical look at the theories that served as the foundation for today's translation science theories

The old individual behavioral theories were very successful in years past with smoking cessation and other behavior changes with each individual patient.  These are still used successfully at the individual patient level today!  The organizational change theories were replaced in the early 2000s with the translation science theories for practice change at the organizational and systems level, where Doctor of Nursing practice scholars will lead change.  This week's lesson and readings provide a foundation for learning the history of these theories.

Our interactive discussion addresses the following course outcome:

· Compare and contrast differences and similarities in change models, conceptual frameworks, and translation models. (POs 3, 5, 6, 9).

Our course resources that support your work in our discussion are our Week 4 Lesson: Change Theory and Models for Change Intervention and White, Dudley-Brown, and Terhaar (2016) Chapter 3: Change Theory and Models: Framework for Translation.

I am looking forward to robust discussions in week 4!

Class, as always, if you have any questions about our course content or our discussions, please post your questions in the Q & A forum, or you can call or email me directly.
