1. Compare information systems insource and outsource.

The insource information systems is the most traditional approach to use when using IS. This

approach allows companies to have full control of what is going on in their business. They are

able to select their suppliers and people who work for their network. By having the ability to

select who supplies them they are able to measure the cost and time that it will cost them. Some

benefits of insourcing are that you are able to keep things confidential. Since, you are the one in

charge of completing the products this means that you can also choose what information can be

shared. One can also have the choice of what resources are used. In comparison, outsourcing

means that “a firm can concentrate on its core competencies”(Pearson). This means that a

company is working mostly with other vendors to get their goods. This can mean that they are

working with other people around the world to get cheaper prices for certain items. Usually

vendors are in different locations and although this could mean a cheaper price, it can also mean

a longer wait time. According to our text, there is a sourcing decision cycle which helps

companies decide which source works best for them.

2. Information systems and privacy.

Information systems and protecting one's privacy is important because it can prevent certain

things from happening. Companies are able to find data online, but it is important to keep the

data confidential especially when in regards to their employees or staff. By using information

systems to protect your privacy you can prevent harm and other injustices(Stanford).

3. How does the sourcing decisions cycle help companies make a decision?
