1. What topic have you chosen to write about and what argument are you making about that topic?
2. What three sources have you found that you believe you will be able to use for your essay and what about them appealed to you?
Question 1 answer
The topic that I have chosen to write about is homelessness. Homelessness is the number one problem that society faced all over the world. It is a tragedy that no one wants to face. It is so sad to see people struggle and suffer. Seeing those type of people on the street will make your heart cry out for them. There are many arguments out there questioning of how it starts, why is it happening and what causes homelessness. The list of arguments goes on and on. The argument that I am making about this topic is that I truly believe that homelessness is a choice. There are so many government benefits and programs that provides for people with low or no income. I know for a fact that in this life we all have our own struggles but we all can overcome them sooner or later. No matter what comes our way, we should not get to the point where we let something bring us down. There are various of opportunities floating in the air. Homelessness can be prevented if we strive to overcome the situation.
Everyone in this life needs help with problems that they are dealing with. If you are having a problem or struggling, the first thing you do is to seek for help, right? With enough help if should not be hard for anyone to struggle. Things become difficult at times, but there is always a way out. As soon as one plan does not work out, then you should start another one and not give up. Failure is not an option in this busy world. Help is always needed. When I see a homeless person, I feel bad for them I begin to wonder what I can do to help them out of this situation. One thing I consider is that they just have to find a way out and push through it with determination. Just because you have lost your job or home does not mean that there are no other prospects that you can choose from.
Answer to number 2
The three sources that I have found are “Life Choices People Make and Their Effects on Homelessness” written by Kylyssa Shay, “Seattle City Councilman says ‘Housing First’ is Key to Solving Homelessness. But Is That the Answer? written by Baby Steps Ministry”, and “How Can the U.S. End homelessness” written by Alana Semuels. These sources have appealed to me because they have a strong claim that supports their article. In conclusion, I believe that homelessness is a preference. We do not have to be homeless if we do not want to. I am not stating that anyone wants to be homeless, but it is a made-up choice. We as people have the ability to control what is going on in this life. Life is not always bad, but it is not always easy. In this life we all learned and faced many things in this long journey. When one thing goes haywire we cannot stop there. We have to keep on trying.
