Discussion Question Response
In this discussion, you'll practice evaluating a source. Find a website related to the topic of your research paper and select an article or webpage from that website. Evaluate the article or webpage using criteria on the following components, as explained in chapter 22, pages 493-499:
1. Title
2. Author
3. Publisher or sponsor
4. URL
5. Last published or updated
6. Genre
7. Author's stance
8. Audience
9. Evidence
10. Other viewpoints
For each of these, give your analysis of whether the source seems to be reliable and fair as well as the evidence used to determine this. For instance, a website with a .com URL means it has the purpose of selling a product or service. Would this website be reliable enough for your purpose in the research paper? Why or why not?
Your responses should be written in complete sentences, but please use the numbered list rather than paragraphs to organize it. You may have just two or three sentences for each point, but be sure that each point indicates your evaluation of the source and the evidence used to arrive at that conclusion.
