Indeed SAS's culture is what made it the world's best place to work. The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Jim Goodnight, emphasizes the importance of building a company that people will be clamoring to work for and will be reluctant to leave (Delapenha et al, 2020). The company provides employees with an opportunity to feel valued and empowered. This contributes to the overall success of the company because research shows that emotions and feelings are the true drivers of employee loyalty, innovativeness, and productivity (Delapenha et al, 2020).
The POLC framework that SAS applies when setting and implementing strategic goals is a very effective framework for organizational success. This framework facilitates planning and helps to ensure that managers use the right approach to set objectives and determine the right course of action to meet these objectives (Fertig & Joseph, 2021). It also enables an organization to effectively organize its resources to achieve its objectives. It enhances leadership by helping managers to inspire employees to focus on meeting the company's objectives. Lastly, it helps in performance monitoring based on the objectives of the organization (Fertig & Joseph, 2021).
By delivering an exceptional employee experience, SAS produces optimal workplace performance. By demonstrating to the employees that they matter, the company encourages employees to respond positively to the organization. The company demonstrates unique leadership values such as valuing its employees above everything (Delapenha et al, 2020). Mr. Goodnight acknowledges that the ideas that come from his employees are the ones that keep the organization going. He holds his employees in the highest esteem and they have in turn rewarded his commitment with breakthrough products (Delapenha et al, 2020).
