Computer System Problem

DXC Technologies is the organization that I have been working with for the last two years and because in this particular decade the internet and the advancement of technology have helped to make things easier for us, in this particular organization employees are allowed to bring their own devices mainly because the company believes that this is the most suitable approach to minimize cost that is associated with purchasing computer resources and other devices.

Problem

Because of this particular fact, I decided to bring my own personal computer at work which is a HP Zbook. I have been using this computer for the last two years but the biggest problem with this computer is the fact that it is vulnerable to such things as malware attack and virus attack mainly if it is not protected by antivirus or any other network/system security mechanism.

Problem

I once realized that some of my information on the laptop had been corrupted and thus I tried to figure out what was the problem only to realize that the computer had been affected by malware that ended up encrypting some of my crucial information (Chen et al., 2020). The most fascinating thing about this security breach is the fact that I had installed an updated antivirus but still, the malware was able to gain access to my system. This means that the hackers who had created this malware would have also gained access to my information.

Malware Attack

Malware is a software that has the capability to illegally gain access to a computer system through such things as malicious links and emails and thereafter the malware will end up encrypting crucial information in the system (Chen et al., 2020). Of late the world is experiencing an increase in cases of malware-related attacks that are actually leading to massive losses in organizations.

Losses

The good thing about this particular security problem is the fact that it only affected my computer and not the entire network and the other systems of the organization. I believe the malware had gained access to my laptop through my home network and thus the only loss experienced is the loss and damage of some of my personal data.

Losses

If the security problem could have affected the network and other systems of the organization then definitely, I believe the loss could be huge mainly because the network and systems of the organization carry a lot of crucial information of both the company and the customers (Hussain et al., 2020).

Solution

The most suitable solution for his particular security problem is to ensure that the user of the computer system does not click on malicious links and emails mainly because this is normally the main ways in which a malware gains access to a computer system.

Solution

It is also crucial that a computer user should install an anti-virus that will help detect and prevent when a malware or a virus is trying to gain access to the system and also install a firewall that will help in checking the incoming and the outgoing network traffic and thus for this reason malicious network traffics will be prevented from gaining access to the network of the organization or the user.

Conclusion

It is important that we always secure our networks and systems and the reason for this is because the internet is vulnerable to a lot of threats that can easily affect our systems, network, and organizations leading to serious losses that are not easy to recover from (Paliwal et al., 2020).
