Big Data is a technology which is used for managing a diverse and big quantity of data. The concept of Big Data has started somewhere in 1986, but it didn’t get the attention until the year 2000, but now it has become an essential need for any organization.
Most organizations now a days employ the legacy structured databases and all the types of unstructured data. This is because it leads to effectiveness in the organization’s operations. It is apparent that with the more powerful applications in an organization, it is very crucial to upgrade the systems if the costs are also high and benefits are minimal (Stair & Reynolds, 2016). Therefore, before carrying out such modifications will ensure that the effectiveness will be attained in an organization.
The key benefits a company can get after implementation are.
· Faster Response time to external events
· Better Predictions to outcome
· Better Information Sharing
· Faster access to right information
· Reduced infrastructure cost.
Some examples of unstructured data are being used today are
· Business Documents
· Emails
· Social Media
· Customer Feedback
· Webpages
· Open Ended Survey Responses
· Images, Audio, and Video
In most of the businesses, common unstructured information lies in customer-related content, which is bountiful and accessible. One example of unstructured data is customer analytics.
The challenges found out at my workplace is mostly related to employee training. the addition of new employees, who has less MIS experience, become a challenge to communication networks. This is because these new comers might not fully understand the systems and may send data, which can overwhelm the system leading to difficulty in communication for others. , Therefore, it is important to make sure that the new users are properly trained, which will enable them to ensure that the communication systems are used in the right way.
When it comes to communicating the data across networks including the device chaos. It is observed that individuals in most cases, try to avoid communication if it is taking place on any device that they are not comfortable in using it. Therefore, settling to use single devices will lead to device chaos leading to difficulty in communication over a network. One more thing to ensure that the information being transmitted remain private and confidential.
The increase in the number of mobile devices on the internet led to an increase in the number of Wi-Fi devices at the network edge and, as a result, more network traffic across the core. Thus, greater investment in the network has been needed in both wireless and physical network ends, to make sure that Wi-Fi could take the load and perform as required. Furthermore, security of network is riskier by a greater number of users.

Big data analytics uses both structured and unstructured data collected within the organization. For the companies to improve efficiency in their operations, big data has to be incorporated to provide better customer service, design personalized marketing campaigns, and in other activities to increase profits (Maroufkhani, 2020). Big data analytics adds a competitive advantage to the enterprise over their rivals who do not have it to make informed decisions. For instance, big data can generate actionable information about customers that can be utilized in advertising promotions, refining marketing strategies, and to improve customer relationships through interactions (Maroufkhani, 2020). Unstructured data come from telephone conversations (audio), websites, emails, word documents, surveillance data, blogs, and social media platforms. Unstructured data do not essentially follow the conventional relational data models (Maroufkhani, 2020). The future of unstructured data lies in the “tapping of unstructured data” by using text analytic technology. Due to the increasing number of devices on the internet, there is a need to support more traffic than was the case one decade ago. IoT devices, desktops, and mobile devices have proliferated the internet resulting in poor performance (El Naqa, 2018). The increasing traffic makes it difficult to have high-speed network communication. Moreover, security challenges have arisen because of the availability of communication networks. Today denial of service attacks, phishing, and other cyber threats increases (El Naqa, 2018). Configuration of an expansive network has become a challenge. There are conflicts among devices, failure to follow to enforce firewall rules, and manually applying policies. Vendor lock-in has made it challenging to integrate emerging network architecture due to competition from different vendors. IoT devices have impacted home networks significantly by increasing the number of gadgets on the internet. Home appliances, smart TVs, refrigerators, home theatres, and other machines at home have been transformed into a more streamlined machine-to-machine communication (Kumar, 2019). IoT devices at home networks collect, exchange, and analyze data in real-time with little human effort.
