Michael Porter's approach to competition centres on three key concepts: differentiation, cost leadership, and focus. Businesses are able to differentiate their goods and services, save expenses, and target specific customers with the assistance of information technologies.

Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, businesses can customise the products and services they offer. This may provide their products an advantage over competitors. Cloud computing and other digital technologies can also cut expenses, streamline procedures, and boost efficiency. This lets them cut prices and lead in cost.
