Think about the different listening styles (people-oriented, action-oriented, content-oriented, and time-oriented). Which style of listening best describes you and why? Which style do you have the most difficulty with or like the least and why? How would each of the different listening styles be useful for you in each of the following situations: academic, professional, and personal? Provide specific examples from your own experience.

Substantive means containing discussion that demonstrates knowledge and ability to analyze the topic at hand; it does NOT mean a simply repeating previous posts and agreeing.
