Visual displays of data are useful to show a picture of data collection. There are multiple ways to graphically display data: Bar graphs, pie charts, line charts, scatter charts, and histograms. They each have their usefulness depending on the level of measurement that was acquired (Laureate Education, 2016j). Using the IBM SPSS software, a simple bar graph was designed to display the nominal data gathered from 510 participants regarding their political party affiliation. The bar graph is an appropriate graphic display of data that is comes from ordinal or nominal derivation. The bar graph displays the different categories of a variable and how they compare to one another. In this case, it displays the differences in party affiliation among study participants. The bar graph could show either the percentage or the count of data (Frankfort-Nachmias, 2020).
