The world has currently shifted from the industrial age, and it is now becoming an information society. Where people are investing in information and hence the rise of different sources of information. Every day new content is updated on the internet, articles and books are being published. However, we have both popular and scholarly sources of information that are used for research in different ways. There are differences between the scholarly and popular sources and among them are the authors. While qualified professionals write scholarly articles, the popular articles can be written by anyone and do not use the academic approach. Secondly, scholarly sources have references or bibliographies that give credit to the works used to come up with the article while popular sources often quote no sources. Besides, the scholarly sources are reviewed and evaluated against the quality and credibility criteria before they are accepted as scholarly materials, unlike the popular sources that have no form of evaluation before the public uses them. Fourthly, scholarly articles are supported by facts and research findings of the scholars, unlike the popular sources that are often based on personal ideas and opinions. Finally, popular sources have illustrations and adverts within them while the scholarly articles are straight to the point have content focused on the main topic of the article. Wrapping up the differences, we have the lifestyle blog articles and a health and fitness journal article that are a clear illustration of what a popular article and scholarly article is respectively.

Focusing on the learning process. The journal of sport and exercise psychology provides a series of article that defines what one needs to focus on while training athletes. One of the interesting articles in the journal is the priming to promote fluent motor skill execution exploring attentional demands (Adams & Jackson, 2014). In the article, the author provides one of the fundamental principles that make good athletes is the fluency in training and focusing on the skills development. Though the article is more inclined it not sporting activities and fails to provide more details on other learning processes; it would be used to offer different approaches that people would use to achieve the training objectives of various activities or professions. Besides, the article is more reliable since it has the authors listed and it is listed on google scholar as reliable materials whose arguments are based on well-researched facts. In addition, the article provides different case studies with both scenarios that show the positive contribution of the two learning principles.
