Identify a global societal issue from the following list that you would consider researching further for your Week 5 Final Paper

In the recent past, income inequality and poverty levels have skyrocketed in most economies worldwide due to various reasons. This has been an issue of concern since it has significant impacts on individuals, different industries, and the world economy at large. Different studies suggest that the increased poverty rates are a result of high-income inequalities and indifferences for most people (Freeman, 2018). Poverty can be detrimental to an individual or society in various ways such as low education levels which if not solved, contribute to high-income inequality levels, poor health conditions, high unemployment rates, and generally poor living standards.

Describe effective methods you used in identifying and narrowing down to just one of the topics to further research for your Final Paper.

Various methods can be used to analyze and identify the most suitable research topics to cover. In this writing, I examined current global affairs and events that indicate high-income inequality levels and increasing poverty rates (Omar & Inaba, 2020). While choosing this topic, I also reflected on past experiences to identify the significance of this societal issue and why most researchers should talk more about it while trying to suggest ways that can be used to end the problem. Lastly, I used existing theories on poverty and income inequalities that have been in archives from previous times.

Explain three ways you can critically analyze sources to determine if they are scholarly.

Credible scholarly sources are hard to find. Therefore, one needs to effectively analyze sources to find credible and useful information on the research topic. I can analyze effective scholarly sources by using certain criteria that involve verifying the timeline of the source, its authority, and the relevance of the information provided to the needs and specifications of my research. In this research topic, scholarly sources should be used since they contain credible information materials from known authors and publishers who provide accurate and purposeful information.
