With developments in modern technology and constant connections to the internet cyber criminals have now discovered new ways to form threats to the information infrastructure of various companies. With increasing needs new technologies developed each day but due to rapid changes there is no proper plan for security to these technologies which causes vulnerability to the system. Cyber criminals are now using social media as a medium to attack the security of the enterprise by attacking and infecting a cluster of websites which is known as water holding. As many users are now using mobiles to do their work, cyber criminals have been developing mobile malware to cause security breaches in the network. Upgradation of security software is a very essential aspect of protection to the information infrastructure. Many organisations use outdated security software which can cause harm and potential breach. Social engineering attacks have become a new way of cyber criminals attacking users which depends on social interaction and psychological manipulation to gain confidential information. Malware and virus attacks are the main reason of threat that various technologies face which can corrupt the information stored in the system or corrupt the entire system giving access controls in the hands of the cyber criminals. Organisations can follow simple rules and practises to build a better security policy and mitigate cyber security threats. The first and foremost step in mitigation of cyber security threats is to install antivirus protection software which ensures safety against virus outbreaks. The next step is to implement a backup policy where backup of data in the system must be done from time to time. Another important method can be training the employees in the organisation about the latest security threats such as spyware, denial of service attacks, virus, ransom ware, etc which helps them in enhancing the level of security. Implementation of multifactor authentication or two factor can act as a strong tool to mitigate cyber security risks.(Editorial Team, 2019)
