c. It promotes in exchanging the information and ideas within and outside the organization such that employees can easily be able to get access to the required information for decision making. For instance, Short Message Service (SMS) & Email. These two will make better coordination among the customers and suppliers with the help of MIS system that an organization is using.
MIS can be applicable at different levels that mainly depends on the users and the type of information systems they are using. Decision support systems are used by top-level IT Professionals to make semi-structured decisions. It facilitates better control & visualization of information for decision making. The output from the Management Information System is used as an input to the decision support system to get input from external sources such as current market forces, competition, and so on.
The main drawback of MIS is, it involves more time consuming that all data entries need to be verified before filing in the system and also recollecting data from the filing system takes a considerable amount of time.
