Discuss best practices for guiding an employee’s career development. How can an organization ensure its provided training and development is benefiting the employee?

Personally i feel that facilitate a learning in the business culture is important. The desire to learn and develop should be embedded in your company culture. Every leader and manager must make employee development a priority across all teams and departments to keep all personnel on the same page. Second one i feel its very important is personalize your learning and development programs. A one size fits all learning and development program simply doesn’t cut it anymore. By simply adding reading, E learning online, hands on and so on can enhance and motivate people to learn. Also given people options and a little control on how they can learn will help them understand a bit more. This will benefit the employee in understanding and motivated in learning the material.

The TED Talk i watch this week was by Simon Sinek – How Great Leaders Inspire Action.

Simon Sinek, author of the book Start With Why, explains how his own struggle to understand personal motivation led him to the fundamental realization that it all begins with "Why?". The best managers and leaders help people get in touch with their personal "why" and connect it to the "why" of the company or organization. "If you hire people just because they can do a job, they'll work for your money. But if you hire people who believe what you believe, they'll work for you with blood and sweat and tears." (Sinek, Simon)
