I would suggest that IBM use Cloud computing services over Broadband. Broadband is not that reliable in my experience; I have had problems with the system failing or losing signals for hours. Every technology claims to be the best, and deliver the fastest and reliable service. Cloud computing allows for the service to be monitored by the IT department for malfunctions, or security breaches. It operates thru multiple sites, instead of frequencies. You are able to utilize the service at different locations, but Broadband has a problem of allowing this to occur sometimes. IBM needs a service that has a strong data storage because this is essential for the needs of its consumers, which Cloud computing can provide. “IBM is a highly vertically integrated company; it integrated back into the chip and memory disk industry to produce the components that work inside its mainframes and servers, and integrated forward into the computer software and consulting service industries.” (Page 288 – Hill, Schilling, Jones) This statement says a lot, and this is why I believe that Cloud computing would be a perfect fit because it aligns with computer technology, which IBM is known for.
Amazon states, "It has benefited from massive economies scales, trade capital expense for the variable expense, stop guessing capacity, increase speed and agility, saves money on running and maintaining data centers, and can go Global in minutes."
