REFECTION 6

One of the mischaracterizations that stood out to me in the video was when Mr. Rain talked about a kid asking him if he was a refugee. This can turn out to be a big mischaracterization because the child's parents more than likely told him that people from Africa were refugees. However, they did not consider the fact that could just simply be migrating for a better lifestyle and not because they were forced. Another mischaracterization is that of the color of their skin, because Mr. Rain also discussed about a kid asking him if he was even Black just because of where his family was from. I believe this to be a major fault in parents not properly teaching their children about other cultures. However, it is also mischaracterized that he is from America and not from Africa. Just because his parents are from another country does not mean that he is specifically from there but that is where his family came from. 

Another example that was not presented in the video is that most immigrants are viewed as criminals and ones that promote violence. However, most of the time that is not the case, a lot of immigrants mainly just want to find a better life and sometimes some immigrants are trying to get away from the violence that is presented in their home country.
