M2D1: Internet of Things

This activity addresses the following module outcomes:

MO1: Evaluate the tactical and strategic benefits of data analytics and data warehousing. (CO6)

MO2: Compare the different types and functions of networks. (CO4)

In preparation for this discussion, please read the required material and watch the assigned videos, then respond to the following: 

Read Chapter 4. IT at Work 4.3 Smart City or Police State? and answer the following questions:

What are the benefits of a smart city?

What are the potential abuses of data collected in this way?

Consider the dark side of smart. Are you skeptical of the benefits of a smart city?

Would you want to live in a smart city? Explain.

How would you prevent Santander from becoming a police state?

What kind of networks could be used in the smart city?

(Turban et al., 2017).

In your response, complete the following:

Name and explain another potential abuse of the collected data.

Your response should be substantive (at least 150 words) and include reference citations and, where applicable, use APA formatting.
