DISS ONE AND 2
Embracing the Future: Emerging Technologies
The growing importance of technology to everyday life is evident. Think about smartphones, smart homes, the Internet of Things, wearable technology, nanotechnology in health care, and this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg!
In our last discussion together, you will explore ways to capitalize on this trend by communicating emerging technologies that may improve health outcomes for target populations.
1-Share a bit with us about an everyday technology you are exposed to, whether it be your smartphone apps, something in your home, a medical device, or something at work that has an influence on health care – your health, a family member or friend’s health, or health provision in your organization.
Now, let’s research an emerging technological application that you don’t use but see great promise in.
2- Describe the application briefly and provide a reference, including a link if possible.
3- Based on all that you have learned in this course, how would you promote awareness of this application and potential benefits to patients to providers in your organization? For example, which providers or patient groups would you target? What strategies would you use?
4-Let’s close with a bit of feedback about the course. You will be completing the course survey, but I would like to know what you found most useful about the course and any changes you would like to see. In particular, did this course meet your learning goal(s)?
Post your primary response. Read any postings already provided by your instructor or fellow students. Read and respond to the conclusions drawn by at least two of your classmates. Remember to read the feedback to your own major postings and reply to it throughout the module.
See the Course Calendar for due dates for posts and responses.
