Things To Consider as Management

4. Develop Networks (what’s the power structure)

Guidelines for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities

 Understand the basic Disabling Conditions

 Use of “appropriate language  Use person first language

 Avoid the trendy slang or generic labels

 Avoid using “normal” unless you have a good definition

 If the disability is not relevant, then don’t talk about it.

 Eliminate emotionally charged, negative words

 Beware of “Superhuman syndrome”

 Emphasize abilities, not limitations.

 Never use the word HANDICAPPED (golf, horse racing)
