Analyzing Performance from Data Monitoring Systems |
As you know, it is almost time for the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to hold the annual meeting to assess progress and develop a new IEP for Huang Le. As we discovered in Week One, Mr. Franklin has been tracking Huang’s goals and objectives throughout his academic year to monitor his progress. It is time to review that data and your documented present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFPs) to begin considering new goals and objectives for Huang.
Initial Post: Post an initial response that addresses the following areas using the discussion board forum:
Huang has been working on goals and objectives in the areas of language/communication, social/behavioral skills, classroom management skills, mathematics, literacy, and self-help skills.
· Use the
included data monitoring system
to make a determination on whether Huang has mastered, made adequate progress, or made insufficient progress on the annual goals.
· What recommendations would be made to Mr. Franklin for Huang’s PLAAFP in these skill areas?
· How would this information lend itself for creating new goals and objectives?
· Summarize your recommendations in these three areas in a professional email to Mr. Franklin from your perspective as the collaborating special education teacher.
Guided Response: You are required to substantively respond in writing to at least two of your colleagues by Day 7 (the following Monday). Respond to your peers as if you are Mr. Franklin reviewing the collaborative email. As you review the posts submitted by your peers, some responses may also consider how your topic may be similar (or different) to others in our class. Consider asking additional clarifying questions or providing sources to extend the discussion.
This forum should be used as a scholarly platform to discuss similar or opposing ideas and career goals and to provide additional sources that you may have found helpful to your own learning and preparation.
Though two replies are the basic expectation, for deeper engagement and application of the material, you are encouraged to provide responses to any comments or questions others have given to you (including your instructor) before Day 7. This ongoing engagement in the discussion will deepen the conversation while providing opportunities to demonstrate your content expertise, critical thinking, and real-world experiences with this topic.
