Performance Management and Measurement Strategy

Students are required to create a performance management and measurement strategy for a public sector or non-profit organization. The student should view himself/herself as the organization’s performance measurement consultant. The performance strategy will include the following:

 _Review and analysis of the current performance strategy and culture,

 _Review of the following using the Baldrige Criteria

o Organizational Profile

o Leadership

o Strategy

o Customer

o Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management

o Workforce

o Operations

o Results

 _Recommend improvements to the current strategy (if one exists),

 _Creating a strategy if one does not exits,

 _Developing a plan for presenting on-going performance.

Students should identify an organization to study before the first class. The organization should be one that the student has a reasonable amount of access to, in order to get information or interviews from department heads, directors, or executives. The final project will be 15 to 18 pages with charts and graphs used as part of the analysis. The performance strategy will be presented at the last session.

Attached, is a copy of a presentation completed by my staff. 

It will serve as a visual of how to compose your final project.  You will note the following:

1.  Executive Summary

2.  Table of Contents

3.  Section Headers and sub-headers, with summaries for each section

4.  Imbedded Charts and graphs

5.  Clearly defined Recommendation section

You will use the Baldridge Criteria as a guide.  I am aware that given the size of your work unit, not every sub-category will be useful.  However, you should be able to describe your organization's performance in each criteria area and develop OFIs/Recommendations.
