Discussion Question 1

DIRECTIONS: During this course, you will respond to two Discussion prompts.

You are required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each

discussion. Each thread must be between 400 and 600 words and demonstrate

course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, you are required to reply to at

least two classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150–250 words. Where

applicable, be sure to use references to support your assertions, using citations in

current APA format. Quotes should rarely be used and do not count towards the

total word count. Discussion threads and replies may not be submitted as

attachments. Please include word counts at the end of each thread or reply.

DISCUSSION BOARD QUESTION 1: The purpose of applied research in education is to solve a real-world problem of practice or to make improvements in practice. The research topic is specific to, and uses data for, a specific site and stakeholders. For this discussion, describe one real world problem of practice that is prominent in education today. In this description, include at least one citation from a scholarly peer-reviewed journal article that was published within the last five years. Name the specific problem of practice. For example, you should say, “The problem is that technology is not being used to teach science in the classroom.” Then elaborate on how this is problematic in education. Eventually, you will need to decide on a specific problem of practice for your own research. The point of this discussion is to learn and discuss several relevant problems of practice with your classmates.
