Specific Purpose : To convince my audience that Die Hard is in fact a Christmas movie.

I. Introduction:

a. AGD- Picture your absolute, most favorite Christmas movie to watch each year. Now ask yourself why this is a Christmas movie to you?

b. Background:

1. Personal: I am an avid Die-Hard fan, watching the film consistently as a Christmas film for years. Also, as an adult who has experienced more than 30 American Christmas’s, I qualify as a veteran of Christmas.

2. Definition: There is not a set definition for ‘Christmas Film’ so the best way to describe this genre is to look at its values- Family, helping others, fellowship, etc. (Saporito, 2015)

c. Thesis Statement: When stacked up against all other films, it is undeniable that Die Hard is one of the most unique and exciting Christmas films of all time, prove me wrong.

b. Call for Action: If you are opposed to the notion that Die Hard is in fact a Christmas film. Take these points into account and ask yourself, Why do I oppose this view? Then go watch Die Hard.
