Assignment: This project involves research on individually assigned case studies as they relate to specific  facility management competencies. Research will include exploring references including the textbook,  newspapers and magazines, library books library, International Facility Management Association (IFMA)  and facilities’ websites, facility management interviews (oral or written), historic publications, etc.  Specific assignments are posted in the class semester schedule.  

Purpose: Gather, analyze, and present information about how facility design and management practices  have been employed at building projects. 

Deliverables: PowerPoint presentation 

1. delivered in 20 minutes  2. 20 slides  3. script included in the notes section of each slide  4. audio record each slide  5. prepare and provide rubric for peer reviewed for feedback  

Directions: Begin gathering information about the facility from the resource provided to you in the  course schedule. Include: 

1. Information and pertinent facts about your building(s):  a. Role to the public  b. Size  c. Age  d. Is it considered a facility or a property?  e. Design and construction (original and renovations):  History, design considerations, 

and design solutions  f. Interesting attributes  g. Show floor plans   h. Name people and their professional positions who informed your research.  i. Names of resources you used 

2. Explain the competency (with any related sub‐competencies) you were assigned.  3. Discuss why and how the assigned competency was, or from your newly, research‐informed 

opinion should be, considered in the facility management of the building(s).  

Submission:  

1. Upload the PPT as a PDF into the Canvas drop box Name the file as follows: 

Last name_Case Study of Name of Facility.pdf (Example: Carter_Case Study of  SilvesterPowellCommunityCenter.pdf) 

2. Copy you’re the audio recorded version of your PPT on Dr. Carter’s jump drive.
