Assignment: Part 1 For the following, choose 3 cities (or areas) to investigate for employment and living. Organize materials below by city names:

2. Include the following information as a minimum for each city or area: Demographics (average age, male to female ratio, ethic groups, etc.); Housing (available types that YOU would consider and associated:

A list of five possible employers with complete contact information; Evidence of current employment opportunities in interior design or related area

Child Care, Older adult care, schools, etc. if anticipated to be applicable for dependents

3. Produce an estimated itemized, annual expense projection for entry level interior design position in one of your selected areas or an average of your selected areas in spread sheet format. Include line item pricing for:
a. Personal expenses (groceries, rent, health and life insurance, entertainment etc.) b. Profession‐related expenses (professional organization dues, transportation
to/from work, professional clothing, etc.)
4. Determine Cost of Living (calculated with a program such as those shown below) comparison and compare this to your anticipated starting salary range for the selected cities/areas.

5. What other estimates of entry level salaries can you find? Include these. You may contact faculty, alumni, or search interior design publications or organization data bases or other sources.

6. Based on the materials provide above, write a concise summary comparison about the implications of working as a design professional in your selected cities or areas. Your summary must be in the form of a spread sheet (vertical and horizontal outlines of cells should be in evidence to aid readability, comparison and organization.)
Part 2 Produce a spell‐checked, grammar‐checked and fact‐checked complete draft of your resume to date, 1 – 2 pages maximum. Include a separate one page list of references with contact information (academic, professional or non‐profit organization representatives ‐persons not related to you.)
