SUBJECT: ANNUAL OPERATIONAL UPDATE

Introduction

Healthcare facilities in the United States have been facing various challenges over the last few years. Similarly, the facility has faced challenges over the past year, which has contributed many effects in operation and overall performance. The main aim of this report is to give a chronological order of activities and their effects on health care delivery in this facility.

Background

Currently, the facility has a well-structured reimbursement structure that aims at addressing Medicare reimbursement issues. The management of the facility has come up will overall Medicare reimbursement structure to help in solving the various problems that have been faced in the past few years (Black & Chitty, 2014). Even though stakeholders of the facility have put more effort to ensure quality assurance, there are some challenges which still affect services delivery in this facility. As a result of these challenges, the management conducted an environmental scan to know the causes of the difficulties and possible measure that should be adopted. Besides, other external factors have also influenced service delivery within the facility. As a result, there is a need for the management to take appropriate actions against such elements to improve services delivery. In doing, it will be easy to enhance the quality of services offered to patients.

Findings of the environmental scan

According to the results of the environmental scan, the team in-charge discovered many ideas and changes that have happened over the last few years. The environmental scan that was done comprised of assessing both internal and external activities and progress of the facility. Many results were discovered. First, the result shows that services delivery in this facility has improved over the last six months (Black & Chitty, 2014). The leading reason for the improvement is due to compliance of health professionals with internal controls and professional guidelines. Consequently, the number of out-patient services and urgent services care have increased over the one year.

On the other hand, the management has also come up with potential solutions to critical issues that are adversely affected the operation of this facility. For instance, the management has identified possible ways of reducing financial problems that have influenced services delivery to patients for the last three months (Marcinko & Hertico, 2013). In most occasions, the availability of issues and challenges affect the operations in an organization. As such, coming up with ways to eliminate financial difficulties has helped to improve services delivery to patients.

Furthermore, the scan of the services delivery that was done revealed that patients have been cooperating well with health care professionals. As such, this has enabled caregivers and health professionals to offer quality services to patients. Consequently, this has contributed to high demand for the facility services over the last few months (Cleverley & Cleverley, 2018). Due to the high demand for health care services, the facility was forced to acquire more health equipment to offers quality services to the rapidly growing number of patients. Also, the management slightly increased service for special services to help generate enough revenues to run all activities of the facility.

Additionally, management is planning to adopt the use of advanced medical technologies to offer critical health services to patients. Some of the services that require advanced technology are like radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, among other services. As such, the management has drafted a budget proposal for the purchases that should be made to help in offering quality health services to patients (Brown & Brown, 2011). Therefore, it is essential to support this proposal to allow management to procure equipment that will help in improving services delivered to patients.

Recommendations

Due to various issues and challenges the management have been facing over that last few years, the board should consider the following proposal to help in improving quality services delivery:

1. The board should approve instance reimbursement plan for all health services offered to patients. The latter will help the facility to have a continuous flow of revenues to enable it to fund all its functions.

2. The board should encourage benchmarking of the management to enable them to learn about the best reimbursement plans that can increase revenues stream for the facility. In doing so, the facility will be able to collect enough finances from its services to enable it to run all its activities more efficiently.

3. Also, the board should allow for application out-patient reimbursement model in the facility to promote value-based care within the facility.

Allowing application out-patient reimbursement model is essential because it improves qualities services delivery as well as motivating patients to seek for more services.

In summary, the management of the facility as done well over the past two years to improve services delivery to patients. Also, the management of the facility has enhanced a good relationship between services providers and patients which has increased the smooth running of activities. Therefore, it is appropriate to implement some of the proposal made to improve services delivery to patients. First, the management should encourage compliance with internal control systems to enhance the quality of health care services offered to patients. Also, the management should do continuous assessments within the facility to ensure the smooth running of all activities.
