· OUR FAMILY WAS VERY POOR FINANCIALLY, BUT THAT GOES TO PRETTY MUCH MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION. LOT’S OF DISEASE THAT COMES FROM NOT HAVING ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER.
· DESPITE ALL THIS STUGLES OUR FAMILY WAS LIVING IN HARMONY AND HAPPINESS.
· OUR PARENTS AFFECTION AND LOVE TOWARD ME AND MY SIBLINGS WERE SECOND TO NONE. THIS WAS A REASON I INHERITED COMPASSION AND GRIT.
· Moved to usa with my mother for survival and better future
· As an immigrant in a new country it was tough
· It became even tougher WHEN MY MOTHER WAS HOSPITALIZED IN ICU FOR LOW HEMOGLOBIN LEVEL
· I WAS FULL TIME COLLEGE STUDENT AT THAT TIME
· I HAD TO WORK 2 JOBS TO SUPPORT US AND I COULD NOT FOCUSE IN SCHOOL
· I DECIDED NOT TO STOP SCHOOL BECAUSE I WAS SO DETERMINED TO REACH MY GOAL.
· MY GRADES WERE SUFFERING
· I WAS VISITTING MY MOTHER EVERYDAY TO SUPPORT HER AND BECAUSE SHE MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME
· Physically and emotionally I was really struggling to the point where my health was seriously deteriorating.
· I was never lost hope during this testing time because mentally I was a strong individual
· Her low hemoglobin was the reaction from 2 failed rounds of Peginterferon and Ribavirin( medication for hepatitis C).
· After long suffering and prayers my mother health dramatically improved
· I also become a fervent believer in new treatment development as Harvoni saved my mother’s life.
·
· I first came across a PA during the time that was when I was visiting my mother in the hospital and I did not understand the person shadowing the doctor had what role in the hospital. I eventually heard the nurses call him the PA and I had to find out for myself what that meant. That is when I did my research and found out a PA is a physician assistant and from where I was standing I could see that he was the one creating a rapport with the patients and assuring them that the doctor who will be attending to them well at it.
· I decide to pursue PA
· I graduate from University of North Texas with BA in Biology and minor in Chemistry
· Worked for 1 year and still working as a Patient Care Technician in Cardiac Telemetry
· Working in Cardiac Telemetry as a PCT, allowed me to interact directly with patients in a fast working environment. I would run morning labs down, pick up blood. I would stock the IV carts, round on all the nurses again, take patients to the floor, assist in codes, round again. Run lab. Help turn/bathe. Assist with chest tube inserts and lumbar punctures, collect patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse, charting, assists in admission/transfer/discharge, and acting to reduce or eliminating patient risk.
· I loved going to work and make a difference in peoples lives.
· Shadowing a PA provided me the opportunity to see how the daily life of a PA is.
· Shadowing solidified my interest in PA, gave me hunger to know more. While shadowing we spend a good portion of the time with the patient building relationships and explaining disease processes and treatment plans
· I’m currently volunteering with Hearts for the Homeless Dallas. We provide free clinic and food for those in need.
After my graduation I would like to work in underserved communities
